Synopsis
EN / The refugees modestly refer to their camp in Agamé, Benin as 'the site'. Walking along its paths, we make our way between the signs that reveal the true nature of the place, and the daily lives of the men and women who transform it into a village. The refugees divide their time between worrying about being moved on and building homes to try and fill the void, finding reassurance in creating an environment that reminds them of the one they have left behind.
FR / Le camp de réfugiés d’Agamé au Bénin ne donne plus l’impression d’être un camp. Tout en marchant dans les allées, en suivant les activités des habitants, on navigue entre les traces qui témoignent de la nature réelle de l’endroit et le présent des hommes et des femmes qui transforment le camp en village. Le quotidien se partage entre la crainte d’un départ et la construction de maisons pour combler le vide, se rassurer en créant un environnement qui rappelle ce qu’ils ont quitté.
